The use of bulk material or granules consisting of a hydrogel is generally known in this context. A hydrogel is a water-insoluble polymer which, as a result of built-in hydrophilic components, swells in the water with a considerable increase in volume, without, however, losing its material cohesion. These hydrogels are known in the form of superabsorbents, which are polymeric plastics that can absorb a multiple of their own weight in liquid, in particular water. This liquid absorption is due to the salt-related osmotic pressure inside the hydrogel, plants being able to remove this liquid again, so that a nearly reversible process can be represented in this way, namely water uptake and water storage in times of increased water supply and water release the plants in times of drought. A water storage shown in this way is basically suitable for preventing evaporation from the soil and thus its drying out, as well as preventing the water from seeping into the depths. In this way, in any case, a contribution to an equalization of the water supply of the plants can be achieved with alternating periods of drought and periods of possibly excessive water supply. However, the use of this agent as bulk material is fraught with the risk of incorrect dosing. For example, excessive dosing with water intake leads to an increase in volume as a result of an increase in volume, while water withdrawal leads to a decrease. These soil movements, in turn, can lead to the tearing off of hair roots or even entire parts of the roots, as a result of which growth disorders of the plant can hardly be avoided. Another problem associated with excessive dosing is possible dehydration from the plant due to reverse osmosis. The use of the hydrogels as bulk material, the dosage of which is more or less inaccurate depending on its practical handling, thus leads to unsatisfactory results. It is the object of the invention to improve a generic means in such a way that the representation of a long-term water supply for plants is possible in a simple and, in particular, reproducible manner. This object is achieved in such a means by the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. It is essential to the invention that the agent is present as a molded body, thus as a body that can be reproduced in terms of its shape and / or mass. This means that a correct dosage can be displayed in the simplest way when it is used for the first time, that is to say while avoiding harmful effects, in particular also an undersupply as well as an oversupply. If at least one shaped body has been introduced into the plant pit, water can be absorbed by it when it rains and water can be released to the plant in a dry season. The shape of the shaped body is arbitrary per se. The features of claim 2 are directed to the mass and / or the size of the molded body. Since the maximum absorption capacity of the shaped body is limited by the internal osmotic pressure, its mass and / or its number of the respective plant, in particular its water requirement necessary for healthy growth, must be will fit. In this context, it is essential that such shaped bodies can be used to produce a reproducible metering of a water supply that is adapted to the needs of the plant. This dosage can be maintained for several years, over which an even water supply is ensured. The features of claims 3 and 4 are directed to the material nature of the hydrogel used, in particular to properties that affect its ability to bind water. In any case, these are at least mainly polar polymers on which the build-up of an osmotic pressure is based. An embodiment of the invention is shown in FIG. This is in the initial state as an elongated, circular in cross section, rounded on both end sides 2, 3 shaped body 1, the absolute size of the respective purpose, in particular the type and size of the plants to be watered. The material composition consists of a polar crosslinked polymer, e.g. B. cellulose, which can be added to other copolymers. For example only, the shaped body can have a mass of 1 g. The polarity of the hydrogel means that it is able to bind large amounts of water, which is also polar, because the polymer develops a strong salt character depending on its basic substance, so that liquid absorption occurs due to osmotic pressure. The molded body 1 is introduced for use in the planting pit intended to receive the plant and absorbs rainwater and otherwise capillary-bound soil water during rainy months. Due to its material composition, the hydrogel is degraded without residue after approx. 7 to 10 years, depending on the existing soil acid content, and therefore does not develop any environmentally harmful side effects. During this time, the molded body 1 develops a reversible process according to dry and rainy times, which is characterized by water absorption and water release, so that an equalization of the water supply of the plant can be represented even in changeable weather.
